A girl arrives home to find her partner gone. She decides to wait for her, abiding by the rules set by the relationship itself: drinking lots of water and not eating. As hours go by, the silence is filled with voices, the voices of the world and the voices in her mind, of her mother and grandmother, telling her of her childhood in a sugarcane town on the river bank.

Autophagy is a choral novel that takes us closer to a world of absence, to a hazy present that seems to devour itself. It is the third novel by Alaíde Ventura Medina, one of the most interesting narrators in the Spanish language.
